JIE Opens Regional Editorial Offices in Europe and Asia

The JIE is pleased to announce that regional editorial offices have been established in Europe and Asia. The European editorial office is based at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway where Dr. Richard Wood serves as editorial director. The Asian editorial office is based at Tsinghua University in Beijing with Prof. Lei Shi as editorial director.

Data Transparency Initiative

Late in 2016, the governing council of the ISIE created a Data Transparency Task Force (DTTF) to explore how industrial ecology could improve the transparency and accessibility of data used in IE research.

The DTTF developed a proposal with 2 parts (see https://is4ie.org/opendata):

  1. Basic transparency requirements for publication, and
  2. A system of optional badges for journal articles that reward increasing levels of transparency and accessibility.

After community feedback, debate, and revision, the ISIE Council and the JIE editorial board approved the proposal, and the JIE is in the processing of implementing the proposals. Adoption is planned for early 2018.

New Editors

The JIE is pleased to welcome Weslynne Ashton as an associate editor for industrial symbiosis.  She is an associate professor at the Stuart School of Business at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, USA.  She is replacing Raymond Paquin who is stepping down to take on new university duties. Guillaume Majeau-Bettez, post-doctoral fellow at CIRAIG, Polytechnique Montréal and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), is joining the JIE as data editor. He will be responsible for implementation of the data transparency standards and review of data articles.  Shinichiro Nakamura is stepping down after long and valued service.  Richard Wood of NTNU will be taking on his duties as input-output editor.
