We are excited to announce the formation of the new Public Policy Section under the International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE)!
This new section aims to strengthen the bridge between industrial ecology research and real-world policymaking. The section will serve as a platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue, share best practices, and promote the application of industrial ecology methods—such as life cycle assessment, material flow analysis, and circular economy modelling—in policy contexts.
Through workshops, policy briefs, webinars, and collaborations with government and non-governmental organizations, the section seeks to enhance the policy relevance of industrial ecology research and support industrial ecologists interested in policy engagement. We welcome ISIE members to join us in shaping this vibrant new community. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Public Policy Section or learning more about our upcoming events and initiatives, please look here or join the section here.
The inaugural leadership team of the section includes:
-
Chair: Stijn van Ewijk, University College London, UK
-
Vice-Chair: Weiwei Mo, University of New Hampshire, USA
-
Treasurer: Ella Jennings, University of Cambridge, UK
-
Secretary: Harri Kalimo, Brussels School of Governance, Belgium
-
Members: Antti Jukka, University of Eastern Finland, Finland; Ryu Koide, National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan; Reid Lifset, Yale University, USA
