Jiajia Li

Socio-Economic Metabolism

Jiajia Li is a PhD candidate at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway. 

Her PhD is part of the BALANCE (BALancing humAn and Natural resource use in Circular bioEconomy) project. She is also involved in the Circular City project. Her research focuses on understanding how the built environment responds to demographic changes to better meet future human needs (including living, working, education, health, etc.). She utilizes Material flow analysis (MFA) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in her studies. Before the PhD, She got a master’s degree in Ecology from the Institute of Urban Environment (IUE), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) in 2020.

Favorite cities and why:

Trondheim in Norway is favored for its easy access to stunning natural landscapes. I enjoy activities like cross-country skiing and foraging for berries and mushrooms in the surrounding forests.
