In what kind of activities is the Student Chapter involved?
ISIE's student members organize students’ events and meetings during the official ISIE and other IE related events – such as the ISIE biennial Conferences and the Gordon Research Conferences. The Student Chapter facilitates communication between students, researchers and practitioners and of course among the students. The ISIE Student Chapter has an elected board comprised of six international student members. The board members represent the students in the ISIE council, maintain this website, publish the students newsletter, and are all around nice folks.

The "formal" ISIE Student Chapter was initiated at the Gordon Conference in June 2002, thanks to the interest of the students, and the support of many. Due to the fact that students in the field of IE are dispersed around the world, there is a need for us to have a 'home' for communication among our peers. The Student Chapter was created due to the need to form a community for ourselves, to understand how broad of a field industrial ecology is, to share knowledge and resources and collaborate with each other on papers and projects, to hold discussions on topics, and very importantly, to have a place that provides networking.
In 2014 the Student Chapter was officially integrated into the ISIE, becoming formally a part of the Society. Student members benefit of a reduced membership fee, and can participate not only in the Student Chapter, but also in other chapters and sessions of the ISIE.
