Dr GUO Yang joined National University of Singapore in 2023 as a Presidential Young Professor. His research explores the opportunities for eco-industrial development and sustainable infrastructure systems. Yang is interested in utilizing synergy perspectives to provide policy implications for industrial sector decarbonization. Before joining NUS, he was a Schmidt Science Fellow (postdoctoral) and then an Associate Research Scholar at Princeton University. He obtained his B.S. (2014) and PhD (2019) in Environmental Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University and finished a second undergraduate major in Computer Science.Details
Yang published 14 research articles as the first/corresponding author, including publications in Nature Sustainability, Nature Chemical Engineering, Nature Communications (2), and Environmental Science & Technology (4).Yang was awarded the Schmidt Science Fellowship by Schmidt Sciences in partnership with the Rhodes Trust (the only awardee in the environmental field among 22 fellows in 2020, selected from ~400 highly accomplished candidates nominated from 83 of world-leading universities and institutes), Presidential Young Professorship by National University of Singapore (~10 awardees annually across the university), grand prize of the Qian Yi Environment Award (the only awardee in China in 2018), Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award by Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (11 awardees in China in 2020), Early Career Award by Chinese Society for Industrial Ecology (2 awardees annually), etc.
