About

Hi, I'm Paula, and I'm originally from the Philippines. I've had the opportunity to live, study, and work across the US, Japan, and now Norway. After spending nearly a decade working in international business development, market research, and project management in Japan, primarily in MedTech, life sciences, and technology, I'm now pursuing an MSc in Industrial Ecology at NTNU in Trondheim. With a background in chemistry, I'm excited to explore how industrial ecology can help make industries more sustainable, particularly through life cycle assessment, material flow analysis, and circular economy approaches. I'm especially interested in where sustainability, business, and technology meet, and how we can turn research and ideas into practical solutions for industry. Always happy to connect, exchange ideas, and learn from others!

Details

I'm currently pursuing an MSc in Industrial Ecology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where I'm developing my knowledge of life cycle assessment (LCA), material flow analysis (MFA), and climate change mitigation. I'm particularly interested in how these approaches can be applied to real-world industrial challenges, especially in manufacturing, resource efficiency, and circular economy.

My academic background is in chemistry, having earned a BSc in Chemistry (Forensic Science) from Loyola University New Orleans in 2012. During my undergraduate studies, I conducted research in green chemistry and microwave synthesis, which led to a publication in Inorganic Chemistry Communications.

Before moving to Norway, I spent twelve years in Tokyo, including nine years at Intralink, where I worked in international business development, market research, and project management. I progressed from Research Analyst to Project Director, working with international companies across MedTech, life sciences, food technology, and digital industries. Much of my work involved helping companies navigate the Japanese market, develop strategic partnerships, and bring new technologies to market.

Having worked at the intersection of business and technology, I'm now interested in bringing that perspective into industrial ecology and exploring how sustainability research can translate into practical decisions and solutions for industry.
