About
Nathalie Iofrida is an experienced researcher and academic specializing in the field of agricultural, environmental, and industrial ecology. With a strong academic background including a PhD in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences from Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria, and extensive expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA), and sustainability evaluation of agri-food and forestry systems, Nathalie has developed innovative methodologies for integrated environmental, economic, and social sustainability assessment. Her research focuses particularly on the modeling and assessment of agricultural systems, oliviculture, circular economy in agri-food supply chains, and the social impacts of agricultural practices using SLCA methods. She has actively contributed to international research projects on sustainability, circular economy, and system resilience, including leading research tasks within the PRIMA Sustainolive project for Mediterranean olive cultivation. Nathalie has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, serves as an editorial board member and subject editor for international journals in agricultural economics and geography, and acts as a referee for high-impact publications including the Journal of Industrial Ecology.
Alongside teaching roles in agricultural economics at university and doctoral levels, she holds a professional agronomist qualification and actively participates in scientific conferences and working groups related to life cycle thinking and circular economy applied to agro-industrial sectors. Nathalie’s interdisciplinary approach and her expertise in sustainability assessment methodologies place her as a significant contributor to advancing the science and practice of industrial ecology in agri-food systems.
