Dominik Maierhofer is a PhD candidate at Graz University of Technology's Working Group Sustainable Construction. He holds two master’s degrees in ‘civil engineering sciences – infrastructure’ as well in ‘construction management, civil engineering’. In his first master thesis, Dominik Maierhofer focused on the field of sustainable construction via the assessment of an innovative passive office building applying the new European assessment framework Level(s). In his second thesis, he conducted the simulation and calibration of a microscopic traffic flow model based on empirical measurement data of a highway south of Graz. After completing his second master's degree, Dominik Maierhofer gained professional experience as a development engineer in the field of Building Information Modeling in the Austrian construction industry until he took up his current PhD position at TU Graz. In his research, Dominik Maierhofer focuses on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies with a strong focus on biogenic carbon fluxes and the dynamic interrelations between ecosystems and the built environment.
