Dr. Sahely has dual nationality in Canada, the place of her birth and in St. Kitts/Nevis where she currently resides. She is an Environmental Engineer with over 20 years of research and consulting experience in the use of data and technology applied to water resources, climate change adaptation, environmental and project management. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Toronto (2006) with a dissertation on urban water systems for sustainable cities.

Dr. Sahely was the first female Manager/Water Engineer of the Water Services Department in St. Kitts from 2013-2014 after having served as Assistant Water Engineer in charge of strategic planning and capital projects for over 5 years. Her research and consulting have included documenting, analyzing, and designing technology-based solutions for climate change adaptation for Caribbean small island developing states. Her experience includes serving as a national expert for many projects including a GEF-funded Technology Needs Assessment for St. Kitts and Nevis for Climate Change Adaptation (Water & Agriculture) and Mitigation (Energy & Transport) (2021-2023) and Incorporating Drought Risk Modelling as a Planning Tool for Climate Change Adaptation Measures in St. Kitts and Nevis (2021-2022).
