About

Industrial ecologist working on supply- and demand side solutions for climate change mitigation and lowering resource use. I am specifically interested to investigate path-dependencies, barriers and pathways for a fair and rapid sustainability transformation.

Details

I work as a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Social Ecology, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. I greatly enjoy interdisciplinary research, teaching, teamwork, new collaborations, exchange of ideas and being outdoors. I am very passionate for my work as an opportunity to do contribute to the quest for strong sustainability and a fairer & better future.

I am a happy part of the industrial ecology community since the last 10 years, and increasingly am contributing to the society by serving as board member and co-chair in the IO as well as circular economy sections, organizing special sessions, as well as supporting our conferences and the Journal of Industrial Ecology as a scientific comittee member, reviewer and actively publishing scientist. The industrial ecology community is my scientific home and I always enjoy coming to our meetings and connecting with the many inspiring and interesting people in our field. I am highly motivated to support our exemplary friendly, open, as well as inter- and transdisciplinary society in its quest to contribute to a fairer and more sustainable future.

I am leading several research projects investigating a sustainable circular economy, sustainable everyday living, as well as developing indicators and methods to more dynamically and systematically assess the biophysical basis of societies and its sustainability challenges and opportunities.

I have received several prizes and awards over the last years:
- Top 1% Highly Cited Researcher, category Cross-Field 2022; Web of Science/Clarivate.
- Fellow of the Robert Bosch Foundation Postdoc Academy for Transformational Leadership in Sustainability and Transformation Research.
- Outstanding Research Poster at the Gordon Research Conference of Industrial Ecology in Switzerland, 2018
- Excellence in Review from "Resources, conservation and Recycling"

I have served as Lead Author for the Special Report on Structural Conditions for Climate Friendly Living, Austrian Panel for Climate Change (APCC) (2022), as well as a Contributing Author to the IPCC Report WG3 Mitigation of Climate change, Chapter Industry (2022).
