I lead the Business Unit Raw Materials at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe, Germany. Actively involved in the EU Criticality of Raw Materials exercises since their beginning in 2009. My group has developed dynamic material flow models for various major and minor metals, both historical and for quantitative scenarios of future demand explicitly considering technological change and substitution. Also, we examine changing demand through emerging technologies -- most notably renewable energy and electric mobility but also many others.
