About

Jenny is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sheffield, where she studies resource efficiency and environmental impacts related to petrochemical consumption, energy infrastructure and bulk material production and use.

Details

During her PhD at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Prof. Julian Allwood, she developed a computational model to aggregate the resource demands implied by sectoral net-zero plans. By aggregating the global demand for emissions-free electricity, biomass and carbon storage, her research showed that many proposed decarbonisation pathways would rely on implausible deployment rates, unless demand were reduced through participatory innovations.

Prior to academia, Jennifer worked as a chartered mechanical engineer at Rolls-Royce across the aviation, marine, and nuclear sectors, and spent a year volunteering for Engineers Without Borders UK in Malaysian Borneo. She holds an MEng and BA in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
