Environmental Applications and Impacts of the Blockchain Technology for Urban Resilience and Sustainability

Blockchain technology has received extensive media attention with respect to Bitcoin, and capacity to influence supply-chain management and resource conservation, among other things.  The utility of such technology has extended beyond the financial sector.  This project will take an interdisciplinary approach to investigate the social, economic, and technological challenges for realizing potential environmental applications of this emerging technology.


Investigate environmental applications and impacts of the blockchain technology for urban resilience and sustainability.


A PhD in Industrial Ecology/Environmental Engineering/Systems Design/Computer Engineering/Network Science or related disciplines, with no more than 3 years’ postdoctoral experience. Experience in at least one of the following three areas is necessary: a) Blockchain applications, b) Life Cycle Assessment, and c) Modeling of complex systems. Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
