Applications for two graduate research assistant positions at the PhD level are sought in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Both students will utilize tools such as life cycle assessment to determine the environmental impacts of products and processes throughout their lifetime, and evaluate the environmental impacts of new and novel technologies. One of the positions will focus on nanotechnology, and its sustainability implications. While the other position will focus on sustainable food production.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is one of the top 20 ranked engineering schools in the United States. The Civil and Environmental Engineering department is home to a diverse group of about 500 students. Students will have the opportunity to interact with faculty members working on sustainability issues both internally and externally to the College of Engineering. Appropriate mentoring and opportunities will be provided, such as presenting working, and attending conferences.
Interested students should contact Professor Andrea Hicks (hicks5@wisc.edu), and apply by the December 15th priority deadline (and at the very latest by the January 1 deadline) to the Civil and Environmental Engineering PhD program at UW-Madison. The selected students will be admitted for the Fall 2018 semester. Students must have either a B.S. or M.S. completed in engineering or a related field.
