We invite applications for 2-3 postdoctoral associate positions at Cornell University in the areas of LCA and AI-enabled sustainability analytics.
We are particularly interested in researchers with strong backgrounds in LCA, TEA, or closely related sustainability assessment methods who are interested in developing and applying emerging AI approaches, including LLMs and agentic AI. Prior expertise in AI is welcome but not required. Rather, we seek candidates with rigorous domain knowledge, strong quantitative and computational skills, and an interest in learning and developing AI-enabled methods for sustainability assessment.
Research opportunities may include methodological development of AI-assisted and agentic LCA/TEA workflows, life-cycle inventory development and validation, data extraction and reconciliation, uncertainty and provenance tracking, and applications to emerging technologies, energy systems, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, materials, and other sustainability challenges.
Successful candidates will join the PEESE research group at Cornell and work in an interdisciplinary environment spanning sustainability science, systems analysis, and artificial intelligence. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, a strong research and publication record, and experience with LCA and/or TEA. Strong programming and data-analysis skills are highly desirable.
