As part of the BuildZero research project, an interdisciplinary and multi-institution UK research programme on circular economy strategies for buildings, we have two postdoc researcher positions open at the University of Bath.
1. National-scale modelling of Circular Economy Strategies for UK buildings. Your focus will be on understanding the impact of circular economy strategies for buildings, at regional/national scale in the UK. To do this, you will develop models of the current UK building stock and how it will be affected by new construction and demolition activities, as well as strategies such as retrofit, extension, adaptive reuse, component reuse, and material recycling. This will allow us to show to what extent these circular economy strategies really do move us towards zero carbon and zero waste construction at scale. 2. Prospective Life Cycle Assessment of UK Buildings. Your focus will be on understanding the environmental footprint of circular economy strategies into the future. To do this, you will conduct prospective life cycle assessment of BuildZero strategies. This is essential to ensure that selected strategies really do move us towards zero carbon and zero waste construction when the whole life cycle is considered.
