The School of Sustainability (SOS) within the College of Global Futures (CGF) at Arizona State University invites applications for two full-time faculty appointments in sustainable energy systems. One is a tenure-track, assistant professor rank and the second is tenured/tenure-track at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. These positions are expected to begin employment in August 2025.
We are looking for interdisciplinary scholars who study the dynamics of transitioning from fossil fuels to sustainable energy systems, including considerations of technology, markets, finance, policy, and/or governance. We especially encourage applicants who apply data analytics and modeling approaches (e.g., economics, techno-economics, technological change, system dynamics) to the analysis of energy transitions and energy policy, including issues of just transitions and energy justice.
The successful candidate will be expected to bring an interdisciplinary perspective to research in sustainable energy transitions. They will be expected to develop, grow and lead an independently funded and collaborative research program; educate and mentor students; contribute to curriculum development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; participate in professional and university service; engage with a range of stakeholders and/or communities; and exhibit or grow into leadership in their field. We especially seek candidates who have a compelling vision for research and teaching that aligns with the mission of the School of Sustainability and ASU’s Charter for a New American University.
