The Department of Sustainability & Environment at the University of South Dakota seeks candidates for a new faculty position in life cycle assessment at the assistant professor level (tenure-track). This is a full-time, in-person, 9-month position to begin in August 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Teach at the undergraduate and graduate level
- Establish a productive and extramurally funded research program that actively trains M.S. and Ph.D. Sustainability students.
- Develop a new course in life cycle assessment and may teach other existing courses in the undergraduate and graduate Sustainability programs.
- Teach data-focused elective courses for the Department of Computer Sciences, as needed.
Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. in engineering, sustainability, environmental science, or related field at the time of appointment
- Educational and research background in life cycle assessment
- Educational and/or research background suitable to teach data-focused elective courses in computer science (e.g. applied courses in data science, data mining, machine learning, etc.)
Preferred qualifications (one or more of the following):
- University teaching experience or postdoctoral research experience
