The Department of Environmental Systems Sciences is looking for a
Project Assistant without doctorate
(up to 30 hours a week; fixed-term employment for the period of four years; position to be filled as of January 1st 2025)
Job specification
- Conducting independent and cooperative research as part of the European research project RADAR
- Realizing empirical studies including data collection and data analysis according to the project specifications with the aim to publish and present relevant results
- Attending and organizing project meetings preparing project reports
- Attending scientific conferences to present and discuss results
Professional qualifications
- Completion of an eligible master’s degree, e.g., in environmental sciences or equivalent, preferably with a specialization or interest in natural sciences or systems sciences
- Demonstrated ability to use a programming language for data analysis or modelling (e.g., Python, R)
- Knowledge of project-relevant research methods with regards to sustainability assessment (e.g., (consequential) life cycle assessment, input/output analysis) and/or system science modelling (e.g., system dynamics, agent-based modelling)
- Very good command of English
Personal profile
- Ability to work independently in an applied research context
- Personal and social competencies to work in interdisciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel within the project region (Europe)
- Motivation to work scientifically and motivation to do and finalize a PhD in environmental systems sciences
The project
RADAR aims to develop renewable compounds as harmless alternatives to currently used aromatic chemicals following the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) concept. The novel bio-based compounds will be analyzed regarding their environmental and socio-economic consequences when replacing conventional compounds in different applications.
Classification
Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1
Minimum salary
The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 3,578.80 gross/month (40 hours a week). This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.
