The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) together with SDU Climate Cluster, invite applications for a 3-year position as PhD candidate in the area of circular economy, covering environmental assessment, waste systems and business practices. The position is located at SDU Life Cycle Engineering, a center in the Department of Green Technology, with co-supervision from SDU Business School. The position is affiliated with the SDU Climate Cluster and is partially funded by Odense Kommune, Fjernvarme Fyn and Odense Renovation. Starting date is at the latest October 1st, 2023, in Odense.
This interdisciplinary PhD project will generate the knowledge missing with regard to business/industry plastics flows disposed today (regional case study), prevention/recycling potentials, including the organizational factors determining business practice around plastics circular economy. In the process, new data collection and processing methods are developed to address system complexity. The present project combines state-of-the-art industrial ecology methods and business innovation approaches.
