The Student Section is hosting a new event titled “Standards for Industrial Ecology: Methods and their Applications” on May 7th (9 AM MDT, 5 PM CEST). Dr. Joule Bergerson (University of Calgary, Canada) and Dr. Stefan Pauliuk (University of Freiburg, Germany) will be our distinguished speakers for the event. You will receive the Zoom link via email after registering.

Prof. Stefan Pauliuk, University of Freiburg, Germany

Topic: The standard “BS 8001:2017 – Framework for implementing the principles of the circular economy in organizations” tries to reconcile the far-reaching ambitions of the CE with established business routines. It contains a flexible management framework for implementing CE strategies in organizations, and a detailed description of economic, environmental, design, marketing, and legal issues related to the CE. Insights from LCA and MFA are needed to provide a scientific basis for monitoring CE strategy implementation, and in my contribution, I outline a dashboard of new and established quantitative indicators for CE strategy assessment in organizations.

Short Bio: Stefan Pauliuk is an expert for method development to assess sustainable development strategies. He works with supply chain analysis and scenario modeling for sustainable material futures. He is a professor for sustainable material and energy flow management at the Faculty for Environment and Natural Resources, University of Freiburg, Germany.
