2024 Gordon Research Conference

The 2024 Industrial Ecology Gordon Research Conference (GRC) will take place May 26 - 31, 2024 at Les Diablerets Conference Center, Switzerland, preceded by the GRS on May 25 and 26. The Industrial Ecology GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The GRS is an event exclusively organized for early career researchers, including masters students, PhD students, postdocs and recent graduates. It provides opportunities to present research through presentations and posters, plenty of time for networking, and some informative sessions and panels. Read on or visit the conference website for more information on this year’s GRC and corresponding GRS website, including how to apply.

Apply soon - we expect the conference to fill well before the April deadline for applications, and limited financial support for early career scholars (students and professionals less than 5 years post-PhD) will be assigned in February.

The GRC program, viewable at the GRC site, includes a diverse range of invited speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, centering on the theme “Action-Oriented Industrial Ecology Science.” The 2024 Industrial Ecology GRC will bring scientists and practitioners together to bridge the gap between science and practice. Discussions will be centered around how to develop the field of industrial ecology to be more policy- and practice-relevant.

The 2024 Industrial Ecology GRS will preview this theme, focusing on Applications of Industrial Ecology Across Sectors. While speakers for the GRC are by invitation only, GRS speakers will be selected from among early career applicants, offering a unique opportunity to share and discuss industrial ecology research-in-progress.

Applications for the GRC must be submitted by April 28, 2024, but review of applications began January 1, 2024, and the conference is expected to fill to capacity ahead of the April deadline. Applicants are encouraged to submit a poster abstract and participate in poster sessions throughout the conference. Applications for the GRS must be submitted alongside a GRC application, and review is ongoing. All GRS attendees will participate in the GRS poster session as well as the GRC poster session. GRS speakers will be invited based on the relevance of poster abstract to the GRS theme - Applications of Industrial Ecology Across Sectors. Speaker invitations will be sent in February 2024, and the final program will be published soon thereafter. US-based GRS speakers and discussion leaders will also be considered for financial support for the GRS and GRC, so apply by February 15 to be considered.
