Interactive workshop: A Global Curriculum for Industrial Ecology (13:00 UTC)
Session Organizer : Stijn van Ewijk
Institution : University College London
Location / Local Time : London / 2:00 PM
Abstract :
Are you an educator in Industrial Ecology? In this interactive workshop, we will explore the challenges and needs of teachers in Industrial Ecology. We welcome educators of any level (from teaching assistants to professors) to share what difficulties they face and how we may overcome these. This interactive session is the first step of a new educational project that aims to develop an open global curriculum in Industrial Ecology to empower educators around the world. The “global curriculum” will overcome the current bias towards the Global North by offering a universal approach that can be tailored to local contexts including in the Global South. The curriculum is intended to take form as an open access guidance document for the design and delivery of programs and courses. The project is funded by a partnership between University College London (UCL) in the UK and the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, as well as by the International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE). The workshop will be run by project members from UCL and Wits, and the ISIE Education Committee.
