Multiple perspectives on tackling knowledge and data gaps in IE (10:00 UTC)
Session Organiser: Tomer Fishman & José Mogollón
Institution: Leiden University - CML Institute of Environmental Sciences
Location/Local Time: Leiden, 11am - 12pm
Abstract:
Industrial Ecology research is riddled with gaps in knowledge and data. Such gaps affect our research in multiple ways, from hampering our ability to provide evidence for science-informed decision making, to limiting the topics and subjects we can study and their scope and resolution.
This session showcases from multiple perspectives how IE information and data gaps can be identified, assessed, improved upon, and clearly communicated. We start with a series of short presentations highlighting various approaches through their usage in diverse case studies of various IE-relevant research topics, including mapping known and unknown processes, literature reviews, statistical estimations, hindcasting, and modeling improvements. These will be followed by an open discussion on how the various approaches contribute to the objective of tackling knowledge gaps
