Session Organiser: Dr. Franco Donati, Dr. Qingshi Tu, Dr. Ming Xu
Institution: Leiden University, Institute of Environmental Science CML
Location/Local Time: Leiden, 11am - 12pm
Abstract:
This session focuses on Next-Gen LCA Tools: Unveiling the Latest Developments and Solutions and it features:
- Fabian Lechtenber, PhD Student at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya: Towards Minimal Impacts with PULPO: Integrating Life Cycle Inventory Models and Optimization
- Stefano Merciai, Researcher at 2.-0 LCA: BONSAI IO: An Open-Source Platform for Product Footprinting
- Robert Pell, CEO at Minviro: XYCLE: Elevating LCA with Quality, Collaboration, and Scalability
- Chris Mutel, Founder at Cauldron Solutions: The Data Liberation Toolkit - An Open Source Set of Tools for Harmonization and Maintenance
The event brings together experts from academia and industry to discuss how data, algorithms, and tools are shaping the future of research and applications of life cycle assessment (LCA).
This session focuses on Data, Algorithm, and Tools for LCA: Current Practices and Future Development, and it is part 2 of three sessions covering North America, Asia, and European time zones:
- Asia - LCA Databases: Challenges, Opportunities, and Consensus
- Europe - Next-Gen LCA Tools: Unveiling the Latest Developments and Solutions
- North America - Applications of AI in streamlining the LCA modeling
The organization of this session is supported by the Artificial Intelligence 4 Industrial Ecology group (AI4IE) a community of practice focused on investigating and supporting the use of AI and digital technologies in Industrial Ecology
Session Details:
Description: With the rise of Artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, Industrial Ecology and sustainability assessment practices may dramatically change. At the same time, new policy requirements from digital product passports to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, will increase the need for LCA to satisfy compliance. This online session seeks to collect the community views on the development of software tools in the field of LCA in light of these changes.
