Abstract: The IPCC's forthcoming Seventh Assessment Report cycle is relevant to the Sustainable Urban Systems (SUS) section. In this session, we will explore how the interests of the SUS section and potential synergies with the IPCC reports. We will discuss the need types of information being sought in IPCC report writing and the impact that may have on sustainability and industrial ecology research at the urban level.
The 1-hour session will be broken into four parts.
- Thomas Elliot will introduce the session with a summary of the Sustainable Urban Systems section and the forthcoming IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities.
- Guest speaker Professor Joana Portugal Pereira will share her experiences as an IPCC author in the Sixth Assessment Report cycle.
- The third presenter will be Professor Yuli Shan, who will will talk about emission inventories and low-carbon initiatives at the city level.
- The last 20 minutes will be for discussion with the attendees.
