Abstract: The analysis of urban stocks in the Global South, specifically the building sector of five urban agglomerations located in Peru, will be presented in this seminar. First, the evolution of the urban stock of five areas is analyzed: four in the coastal area and one in the Andes. Additionally, a specific analysis of the limits to growth in urban agglomerations with horizontal growth constraints is assessed for two districts of metropolitan Lima.

Matias Gutierrez, Civil Engineer and researcher at PELCAN-Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP). He is a trained civil engineer applying concepts and methods from Industrial Ecology in different projects, which include Life cycle assessment (LCA) of construction materials, urban stocks and waste management in the fishmeal industry.

Claudia Cucchi, Civil Engineer and researcher at PELCAN-PUCP. She has been involved in different research projects related to the application of the main tools of Industrial Ecology. These projects include, urban stocks, LCA of agro-industrial products and construction materials, amongst others.

Ramzy Kahhat, Principal Professor at the Department of Engineering at PUCP and researcher at PELCAN-PUCP. His expertise in Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Engineering have been used in several research studies, such as sustainable waste management, LCA of civil infrastructure/construction materials, energy systems and agricultural products, MFA of electronic materials, urban stocks, and characterization of debris generated by disasters.
