Exploring the intersection of industrial ecology and green investing
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information is used by the sustainable investment community, and increasingly the mainstream finance industry, to measure and compare the environmental and social aspects of companies, funds, and investments. This growth in interest has highlighted the need for objective and transparent ESG metrics and data, which to date are often self-reported and unconnected with measurable life-cycle impacts. In this session, we will share, discuss, and learn about research that bridges ESG information with industrial ecology methods and frameworks. Four short (10-15 minute) presentations will be followed by a Q&A panel of presenters hosted by sustainable finance expert Susanna Gibbons, CFA. We will end the session with short breakout discussions on specific ideas and topics discussed by participants.
