We would like to invite you to submit a research or review article for publication in this special issue of Sustainability, an open access journal which provides an advanced forum for research findings in areas related to sustainability and sustainable development.
This special issue welcomes contributions in urban metabolism-based tools, approaches to city typologies, development of performance indicators, sustainable city policy development and implementation, and urban metabolism analysis under conditions of data scarcity. The authors are also invited to submit case studies of sustainable metabolic systems design, development of benchmarks and monitoring schemes.

The submission deadline for this special issue is December 31, 2019. Contributions can be submitted at any time before this deadline and the papers will be published once accepted in the journal. Journal offers rapid publication: manuscripts are peer-reviewed and a first decision provided to authors approximately 16 days after submission; acceptance to publication is undertaken in 5 days.
