World Economic History Congress in Kyoto, Japan in August 2015

Socio-Economic Metabolism

The upcoming World Economic History Congress in Kyoto, Japan from 3 to 7 August 2015 features a session on the potential for socio-economic metabolism research in economic history. The session is entitled 'Long run economic growth and the environment: international comparison from a socio-metabolic perspective' and is organised by Iñaki Iriarte Goñi (Zaragossa University) and Fridolin Krausmann (Inst. of Social Ecology, Vienna). It invites empirical papers presenting results from case studies investigating patterns and trends of material and energy flows or comparing different countries or regions. It will also be open to papers discussing concepts, sources and methods.
