Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the fifth session of the ISIE-EEIO "Data Matter" Webinar Series for 2026. This series is designed as a premier platform for our community to engage with the latest advancements in EEIO (Environmentally Extended Input-Output) datasets and to learn directly from the developers at the forefront of the field.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Martin Bruckner from Vienna University of Economics and Business. He will be presenting the latest work of FABIO database.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Martin Bruckner is a researcher at the Institute for Ecological Economics, Vienna University of Economics and Business, and the principal architect of the FABIO (Food and Agriculture Biomass Input-Output) database, one of the most comprehensive global datasets linking agricultural biomass flows to environmental impacts. With over 25,000 downloads, FABIO underpins a wide range of studies on land use, water consumption, biodiversity loss, and greenhouse gas emissions embedded in global food supply chains. Dr. Bruckner specializes in modeling the physical dimensions of biomass conversion and distribution networks, developing physical and hybrid multi-regional input-output models to examine the characteristics, drivers, and dynamics of socio-economic biomass metabolism. His research spans the environmental impacts of food and non-food consumption, risks associated with bioeconomy expansion, the consequences of dietary shifts and food waste reduction, and climate-related vulnerabilities across global agricultural supply chains.
