Welcome to the fourth session of the ISIE-EEIO "Data Matter" webinar series for 2026. This series is designed as a premier platform for our community to engage with the latest advancements in EEIO (Environmentally Extended Input-Output) datasets and to learn directly from the developers at the forefront of the field.

We are honoured to welcome Prof. Richard Wood from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), University of Newcastle (Australia) and XIO Sustainability Analytics. He will be presenting the latest work of the EXIOBASE database 3.10 (https://zenodo.org/records/18937492).

 

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Richard Wood is a professor at the School of Environment and a casual senior consultant at the Institute for Regional Futures, at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is also an adjunct professor at the Industrial Ecology Programme at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and a co-editor in chief for the Journal of Industrial Ecology. He runs a research consultancy (XIO-SA).

Richard’s research focuses on understanding the socio-economic drivers of global environmental change, with a particular emphasis on quantitative modelling and policy-relevant applications. He is a co-developer of the EXIOBASE global multi-regional input–output (MRIO) database, widely used to quantify environmental pressures across global supply chains. Richard has over 100 publications and was included on Web of Science’s Highly Cited (top 1%) of global researchers for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025.
