Island Section Members Launch RECOVER Mobility & Mentorship Programme for SIDS Professionals

Members of the ISIE Island Section are closely involved in the launch of the RECOVER project, under the CLARE programme, which introduces a new 6-month mobility and peer mentorship initiative for professionals from Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The programme is designed to strengthen research capacity and collaboration for island contexts. Selected participants will undertake a 1–2 month in-person placement at a leading institution, gaining advanced research skills, tailored mentorship, and exposure to cutting-edge climate adaptation and sustainability approaches relevant to islands.

Up to 12 participants will be selected through 2026, with each receiving up to CAD $12,000 in mobility support.

This initiative is led by researchers active in the ISIE Island Industrial Ecology community and is closely connected to the work of Metabolism of Islands, reflecting the section’s ongoing efforts to advance systems-based approaches for island sustainability and resilience.
