🎬 Metabolism of Islands – New Documentary Released

The International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE) is pleased to announce the release of Metabolism of Islands, a 34-minute documentary that explores a central question: Can a small island truly achieve sustainability?

Using the compelling analogy that islands - much like living organisms - metabolize materials and energy to sustain their populations, the film examines how unbalanced resource use can weaken resilience and increase vulnerability to climate shocks.

Through insights from science, storytelling, and lived experience, Metabolism of Islands introduces an evidence-based, systems perspective that moves beyond short-term fixes toward holistic strategies for long-term sustainability.
