The International Resource Panel (IRP) is seeking to recruit leading scientists with policy-relevant expertise, particularly in the development and implementation of science-based solutions for the sustainable management of natural resources and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications by 17 November 2023 as indicated in the call for applications.
Note that Panel membership is not an employment position, and that Panel members contribute to the IRP on a pro-bono basis.
Who are we looking for?
The Panel is seeking to recruit leading scientists with policy-relevant expertise, particularly in the development and implementation of science-based solutions for the sustainable management of natural resources and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Experts are expected to contribute to the development of science-based and policy -relevant relevant assessments , and formulate formulate effective policy options and recommendations policy options and recommendations policy options and recommendations policy options and recommendations policy options and recommendations policy options and recommendations including those related to resource efficiency, sustainable consumption and production and transitions to a circular economy. Female candidates and those from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, West Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific are particularly encouraged to apply.
New Panel members shall:
➢ Possess proven expertise in one or more scientific disciplines relevant to the work of the Panel and demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner. An understanding of societal transitions and a familiarity with modelling techniques is desirable. Please see below the main areas of expertise of interest to the IRP.
➢ Commit to actively contribute on a pro-bono basis to the IRP as a Lead Author, Contributing Author, or Review Editor, as well as participate in and actively contribute to Panel meetings (Panel membership is not remunerated, but travel expenses to Panel meetings are covered by the IRP).
➢ Show commitment and due diligence to scientific and academic rigorousness and strong teamwork spirit.
➢ Adhere to professional conduct and scientific integrity principles and submit conflict of interest disclosures.
➢ Be willing to actively engage with public and private stakeholders as well as to communicate and disseminate scientific studies and assessments; and advocate for the work of the IRP.
