As part of the transition of the Society to an independent association, the ownership of the Journal of Industrial Ecology (JIE) has been transferred from Yale University to the ISIE. We would like to thank Yale University for all its engagement in founding and hosting the JIE during the past 25 years and look forward to taking over the JIE and supporting its continuous journey to success.
Also as of January 2022, there will be a switch in the leadership of the journal. Reid Lifset has been the founder and editor-in-chief of the JIE since the beginning. He has set the editorial direction for the journal and thus has significantly co-shaped the intellectual development of the field of industrial ecology. Reid’s tireless engagement, rigorous quality control, and also his numerous editorials and columns have made the journal what it today is: the flagship outlet for research in industrial ecology and a journal whose continuous quality we can trust. Reid is stepping down as editor-in-chief, but will keep an advisory honorary position as founding editor, contributing his advice and wealth of experience to the journal. We would like to take the opportunity to thank Reid for his longstanding and invaluable commitment to the JIE.
We are very happy to announce that the role of editor-in-chief will newly be shared between Junming Zhu (Professor at Tsinghua University in China), Gang Liu (Professor at University of Southern Denmark) and Richard Wood (Professor at NTNU in Norway and based in Australia). All three have ample experience in various editorial roles, including at the JIE, and will take over the lead of the JIE as a team. Valerie Thomas, chair of the recruitment committee, summarized outcome of the recruitment process as follows: “This is a team of distinguished industrial ecology researchers, with strong editorial experience, diverse strengths, and commitment to the continued success of the Journal of Industrial Ecology. We are delighted that this team is willing to serve.”
