Dear ISIE members,
On the 25th February we held the first ISIE Board meeting of 2021.
Here are a few of the highlights from the Board meeting:
- Stefanie Helweg has now formally has taken over as President of ISIE with Ming Xu as President-Elect, and we welcome Alissa Kendall and Gang Liu as new members of the Board. We acknowledge the service to the Board from outgoing President Heinz Schandl, and Board members Wei-Qiang Chen and Matthew Eckleman, and immediate past President, Edgar Hertwich.
- We have had a reasonably successful renewal drive with 200 people renewing over the last 3 months (thank you!). Concurrently, we have noticed that many ISIE members have generously taken up the option of donating. This is especially appreciated given the difficulties and disruptions of recent times.
- The Journal of Industrial Ecology continues in its transition toward ownership by the Society, the Membership Committee presented the results of the recent Membership Satisfaction and Benefits Survey (available online soon), and the proponents of aligning ISIE with the Circular Economy have provided some direction on branding and updating descriptions of the Society. We are also renovating the ISIE website to be able to help out with this year's Industrial Ecology Day
- Lastly, ISIE is standardising it calendar to bring our main administrative and governance events closer together and in line with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce where we are registered. Elections are to be complete before the end of February, the Annual Report finished before the end of March, and the AGM convened before the end of April – with this year being an exception on the 20thMay, 2021.
The comprehensive meeting minutes will be published shortly.
Best,
Tim Baynes
ISIE Secretary
