ISIE Student Chapter Board Member (2013 - 2014).Burak earned his Civil Engineering Ph.D. degree from the University of Central Florida, Orlando. He currently works as a MSCA/TUBITAK 2236 CoCirculation2 postdoctoral research fellow at Sakarya University, Turkey, studying the sustainability implications of a novel lithium sulfur battery technology and its deployment in electromobility.
Details
His research concentrates on the sustainability assessment of socio-technical systems, with a particular focus on sustainable transportation. The main part of his research comprises of investigating social, environmental, and economic aspects of engineered systems from the life-cycle perspective to facilitate and rationalize decision-making. His research areas of interest include the sustainability and dynamics of sociotechnical systems, computational sustainability, sustainability analytics, and multi-objective decision-making and optimization. Burak also served at the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering, UCF as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for seven subsequent semesters. He was given by UCF College of Engineering and Computer Sciences the Award for Excellence by a Graduate Teaching Assistant in 2018. Burak identifies himself as a world citizen and is multilingual and fluent in Turkish, English, Spanish, with intermediate skills in German and Italian. He enjoys gardening, playing guitar and listening to music, workout, and exploring new places and tastes.Research Interests
