Two fully-funded PhD positions are available for an interdisciplinary project with the Bilec (https://www.bilecbese.org/) and Khanna (https://www.khannalab.com/) research groups at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. We seek highly motivated students for a unique opportunity to conduct research in the broad area of circular economy that includes several academic partners. The project involves an exciting combination of industrial ecology, environmental systems analysis, life cycle assessment, data science, and network analysis for circular economy.
Successful applicants will have a BS or MS degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical engineering or equivalent, have an excellent academic record, and work well in a collaborative research environment. Familiarity with systems-analysis tools and techniques (life cycle assessment, data science etc.) is a plus. In addition, fluency in English (written and oral), excellent scientific writing skills, the ability to organize and analyze data and clearly disseminate your findings are essential.
