Project description

Third-cycle subject:

Machine design with a direction to Integrated Product Development

ReCiPSS is an EU project that includes several companies and research groups in Europe. The project is headed by KTH and involves researchers from Integrated Product Development and Industrial Production. The project aims to develop product service systems with new business models that support greater resource efficiency. We are currently seeking a PhD student for this interdisciplinary project. The PhD student assignment will specifically focus on business model innovation and how to manage and organize in industrial companies to create more disruptive new business models that support a sustainable development. The work will lead to new theory, but also new methodology in order for companies to move towards a circular economy, where new business models enable increased resource efficiency.

ReCiPSS offers an international research environment with frequent contacts with industry and focusing on the research's impact on business. At the same time, the research studies is an opportunity to immerse oneself in an area and in particular in the theory that is relevant for the challenges in practice, such as innovation in networks, business model innovation, and innovation for sustainable development. A PhD student in the project therefore needs to be interested in theory studies together with a great willingness to transform new knowledge into practical use. Since the student will work closely with ReCiPSS’ team at KTH, working on different but relevant project deliverables and activities will be part of the research studies. Research studies require perseverance, an autonomous way of working and that one is result oriented.
