UVic Department of Civil Engineering is seeking to hire a faculty member with a preference for outstanding women candidates. This is in accordance with the University of Victoria's Equity Plan, and pursuant to Section 42 of the BC human rights code. The Department is seeking to develop an environment that nurtures high quality learning for all students and we value the role that gender diversity, amongst other factors, contributes to this goal. The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, with rank depending on accomplishments and experience.

 The appointee will contribute to the development of a green Civil Engineering Program and must be motivated and skilled to conduct engineering work towards reducing environmental impacts of human activities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in research, graduate student supervision, and teaching. An exceptional research record is required including substantial recent publications in top-tier venues.

Scholarly expertise in one of the following areas is required: life-cycle assessment; industrial ecology; infrastructure management; or solid waste management. The successful applicant will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, establish an active research program, and participate in the academic affairs of the university. Ability to teach undergraduate engineering courses in environmental policy; and environmental pollution is required.

Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, or a related field, together with excellent verbal and written communication, and experience of collaboration with colleagues of engineering and non-engineering backgrounds. Candidates must be registered as a professional engineer or be eligible for and committed to registration.
