Position Description

UCLA is looking for a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in Life cycle assessment (LCA) and industrial ecology. The postdoctoral researcher will be hosted by the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES) and work with Professor Deepak Rajagopal.

The candidate will primarily take a leading role in two different research projects one focused on energy sustainability (in the context of personal and commercial transportation) and the other on sustainability in the health care context. Experience with Techno-economic analysis and knowledge of micro-economics will be a plus but not strictly required.

Preference will be given to candidates with good writing skills in addition to strong quantitative analytical skills.

Applicants should hold a PhD from a relevant disciplinary or interdisciplinary program with strong demonstrated experience in LCA and conducting academic research. The annual stipend will be $60,000 salary + $17000 benefits. The initial appointment will be for 24 months. Anticipated start date is January 1st 2023.

Responsibilities:

The researcher will help design the LCA, guide data collection by graduate and under-graduate student assistants, lead the analysis, and write academic papers and help with grant proposals
