We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher position within the Grundfos Advanced Manufacturing Engineer-ing (AME) unit coupled to a research project titled μcircmag: “Multi-Scale Circularity Assessment for Perma-nent Magnet Motors Supporting Green Transition”. This project is a collaboration between Grundfos AME; Department of Mechanical Engineering, Aarhus University; & Insititute for Green Technologies, University of Southern Denmark.
Project background:
The μcircmag project aims to develop multi-scale approaches that integrate product- & market-level circu-larity assessments for maximizing the use of secondary permanent magnet materials in Grundfos’s motors. To support this goal, the postdoctoral candidate is expected to develop a comprehensive decision-support tool for forecasting future regional & global supply constraints for such materials, identifying feasible sources for secondary materials across market sectors, and performing holistic cost & sustainability-based optimization of their circular redesign strategies.
Employment details:
The primary employment of the candidate will be at Grundfos AME. The candidate will also receive an affiliation with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Aarhus University. The candidate is expected to spend 50% of their time at Grundfos and the remaining at Aarhus University & University of Southern Denmark. The candidate will be jointly supervised by Dr. Badrinath Veluri, Grundfos AME, Prof. Devarajan Ramanujan, Aarhus University; & Prof. Gang Liu, University of Southern Denmark.
The employment is for a period of 3-years and the employment start date is as soon as possible. The pri-mary place of employment will be Poul Due Jensens Vej 17, 8850 Bjerringbro.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should hold a PhD degree in an engineering/scientific discipline that is relevant to the project. The candidate is expected to have a strong research background and track record of high-quality publications in one or more areas relevant to the project. Excellent communication skills in English, in both speech and writing, are a requirement. Additionally, expertise in one or more research areas listed below, will be an advantage:
- Material flow analysis, including stocks & flows analysis at regional & global levels.
- Product circularity assessment and circular redesign strategies.
- Prospective sustainability assessment, particularly dynamic modelling and scenario analysis.
- Domain knowledge about supply chain and sustainability of rare-earth magnetic materials.
