The Network for the Digital Economy and Environment (nDEE), a collaboration of Yale University, the University of California Berkeley, and the Environmental Law Institute, seeks to hire a Research Fellow. The Digital Economy Research Fellow will participate in an initiative exploring and supporting multi-disciplinary research to increase understanding of the energy and environmental impacts of the digital economy, with emphasis on digital sharing platforms, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, blockchain technologies, and/or the internet of things. The Fellow will be based at the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment (CLEE) at the University of California Berkeley School of Law.
Position title: nDEE Research Fellow
Salary range: The anticipated salary range is $54,900 - $76,200, though the successful candidate could be hired below or above this range depending on qualifications.
Percent time: 100%
Anticipated start: September 1, 2021
Position duration: One-year term position, with the possibility of renewal

A key component of this position is providing centralized coordination for both the three-institution project team and for the ever-expanding network of experts and practitioners in this area. Activities are anticipated to be roughly split between substantive research and drafting of outputs and operational, coordination, and administrative activities. The exact responsibilities will vary based on the evolution of the initiative, the expertise and experience of the selected research fellow, and in response to the ongoing evolution of the field. This position can be located remotely, but travel may occasionally be necessary to or within California, Connecticut, and/or Washington DC.
