PhD Position

Dear All, I have an exciting PhD opportunity to investigate how urban climate change strategies impact natural resources. Cities around the world and in the UK develop local climate plans (Reckien at al 2019). Climate actions, i.e. pieces of infrastructures, require large amounts of natural resources (e.g. sand, aggregates, lithium and cobalt) that should be sourced sustainably. Whereas several studies have addressed the content of local climate plans, information on the impact on natural resources of these plans is largely missing.

the funding comes via the ONE Planet DTP- see https://research.ncl.ac.uk/one-planet/

Please check the outline of the PhD here https://research.ncl.ac.uk/one-planet/studentships/OP2202%20-%20David%20Manning,%20'Natural%20Resources%20and%20Urban%20Climate%20Strategies'.pdf

The deadline is 18th January with the research post starting in October 2021.

Please pass it on and do get in touch should you be intersted.

Oliver
