Doreen Steven Mlote is a Civil Engineer, Innovation Designer and currently a PhD Candidate at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. She graduated from Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering where she received the Highest Honour awarded by the rector. She also possesses a Master’s Degree in Engineering Innovation by Design from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (2021).
Miss Mlote is a registered graduate Civil Engineer under the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania. In July 2021, she was awarded one of the top 3 Best Graduate Female Engineers Award in Tanzania by the Institution of Engineers in Tanzania. In April 2018, Miss Mlote was also acknowledged by the Ministry of Education of Tanzania for her outstanding performance in Advanced Mathematics. Currently, Miss Mlote is also a Ph.D. student at the Singapore University of Technology and Design where she works on a project based on sustainability in the built environment.
Miss Mlote possesses a highly proven record of skills in Structural and Site Engineering, CAD modelling, and Innovation by Design. Some of her key expertise include Designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of projects: drafting, reviewing and checking project drawings and specifications; quality check of construction materials; drawing and design software expertise including AutoCAD, Civil3D, 3ds Max, Blender, Sketchup, SOLIDWORKS, Revit and ETABS; Innovation and Design thinking methodologies, entrepreneurship, leadership and planning projects strategies; Carbon accounting; and Organizational, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills to propel projects towards peak results.
Miss Mlote has experience from previously working with institutions and groups such as the Renewable Architecture Lab (REAL) in SUTD Singapore, the Tanzania Building Agency (TBA), GMP Consulting Engineers Ltd Tanzania, and the Arusha Technical College. She also served as the Assistant Chairperson of the Tanzanians’ Community in Turkey (TCT) from December 2018 to December 2019. Miss Mlote’s versatility has extended to her language skills where she speaks English, Swahili and Turkish. Her professional work has been showcased/presented at conferences such as the ISIE Leiden 2023, USS Congress Singapore 2023, International Conference of Structures and Architecture (ICSA) 2022 in Denmark, and also published such as in the MDPI Journal with her paper titled ‘Load-Bearing Capacities and Pseudo-Ductility of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced New Zealand Pine Timber Beams’ whose findings have already been implemented in various successful projects to date.
